Stanford Spiritual Research Study - Opportunity to Participate

What does spirituality have to do with community motive? One's attitudes towards cooperation may be based on logic, necessity and/or a sense of spiritual community from formal religious training, philosophical study or a sense of connection to and through nature, or ... .

Community motive, a personal responsibility to a greater community, may be learned in the home, through civic education and as part of exposure to religious education. Knowing and following social rules is valued for its contribution to community stability, safety and security. All very practical, but the experience of a spiritual connection adds a knowing grace that individuals seek.

Stanford Spiritual Research Study

Hi everyone,

Have you had a spiritual experience that you would be interested in sharing?

We are seeking to understand the ways in which people experience divinity and the supernatural around the world.
If you have been conscious of, and perhaps influenced by, some power, whether you would call it the effect of God or not, we would be grateful if you could:

1.  Write out a simple and brief account of these feelings and their effects—a deep sense of awe or wonder, a voice or vision, a profound sense of presence, or whatever way in which divinity or the supernatural became apparent to you.

2.  You should include particulars of:
      - age,
      - gender,
      - nationality,
      - religious upbringing and
      - current practice

Either send them to nikki.ross@stanford.edu, or mail them to

“Community Motive” Driven “Cooperation Industry Earth 2300” – The Evolution of Thought Continues – Annual Report 2016

“Community Motive” Driven “Cooperation Industry Earth 2300” – The Evolution of Thought Continues – Annual Report 2016

Regional Community News began as an online newsletter November 11, 2003. The tag line was: "Community precedes cooperation. Regional community makes regions work."

The observation “community precedes cooperation” came from my experience as a planner promoting regional cooperation and would become a thesis, as well as lead to more insight. I used the term as early as March 20, 2000 in my journal.

Much evolution has taken place in my thinking over the years and as of the November 11, 2016 anniversary, the effort becomes:  Cooperation Industry Earth 2300 - News & Thought

What is “community motive” and how does it relate to cooperation industry earth 2300? Since 2008 it was clear that the profit motive had failed and was regularly failing to live up to the notion that it was what solved all problem.

The people who I worked with and saw doing the work of community, important work, were not paid. There must be something like a “community motive”. Searching the internet early in 2011 I found only one citation that used it in the way I’d thought of it: “Acts of conservation without the requisite desire and skills are futile. To create these desires and skills, and the community motive, is the task of education.” — Aldo Leopold "Conservation: In Whole or in Part?” (1944); RMG 319

I concluded that community motive had not been adequately recognized, even though it was recorded over 60 years ago and began to promote the term and fit it into my community theses.

The "profit motive" that works in the civil markets made possible by self-governed communities, has been made to appear as the first cause of wealth. Yet, in one's life, the most important things one does are not for profit, but for family and community, to ensure their perpetuation. Both work together now, though in the beginning, there was only community motive, since survival and perpetuation depended upon the community.

History confirms industrious human communities have survived and advanced through out time, leading to the present world which has enormous challenges, environmental, social and economic. They require more and more, all talents and abilities of humanity to achieve balance and eliminate the waste of war.

Cooperation Industry Earth is inclusive of all humans and their activity, therefore it has no classification code. As a singularity, it works worldwide, still recognizing the importance of boundaries for community self-management and the organization of regional/greater communities. Those who cooperate only for the domination of others, using war and conquest, are catalysts for greater peace. To see this requires a Greater Community Spirituality, without domination of any single religious or non-religious group.

Seven generations of increasing cooperation can occur and return the built-environment and natural-environment to a sustainable balance. My timeline vision from May 24, 2016 follows:

This then is a paradigm offered to Humanity as a result of years of work, practice, study and inspiration: "Cooperation Industry Earth 2300: Acknowledge boundaries. Work across them. Think local planet, act regionally."

"Community motive" has not been adequately recognized. Yet, in one's life, the most important things one does are not for profit, but for family and community, to ensure their perpetuation.
